Truckit.net FreightSafe Warranty Terms & Conditions

Applies to consignments booked and paid through Truckit.net on or after 1 October 2026. Version 220926.

1. General

Truckit offers the FreightSafe Warranty, a limited warranty against physical loss of or damage to Goods during Carriage, including while the Goods are in the control or possession of the Provider for the purpose of Carriage, subject to these terms and conditions. The FreightSafe Warranty is a separate contractual promise by Truckit. It does not make Truckit a carrier and does not change Truckit's role as a marketplace operator under the Truckit.net User Agreement.

The FreightSafe Warranty applies automatically to every consignment booked and paid for through the Truckit.net platform. The Customer does not need to select it and it cannot be removed from a booking. The FreightSafe fee is included in the total price shown to the Customer at the time of booking. The FreightSafe Warranty covers the Goods up to a maximum of $500, $1,500 or $2,500 per consignment, depending on the category of goods, as noted in Schedule 1. The FreightSafe Warranty does not apply to any consignment arranged or paid for outside the Truckit.net platform.

The FreightSafe Warranty is in place from when the Goods are first moved outside of the premises at which loading takes place for the purpose of being immediately loaded onto the conveying vehicle, ending when the Goods are last moved when being delivered at the destination point associated with the freight booking, or any earlier point where the ordinary course of transit has been interrupted.

In the circumstances where the loss or damage to Goods is partly caused by an event or incident covered by the FreightSafe Warranty, but also partly caused by an event outside the Provider's reasonable control, Truckit will assess the extent to which the Provider's actions or inactions have caused or contributed to the loss or damage suffered by the Customer and the extent to which the loss or damage was caused by something that was not within the control of the Provider (i.e. a natural disaster event). Claims under the FreightSafe Warranty will be assessed on this basis and an offer to compensate the Customer will be made by Truckit for the share of responsibility that the Provider has for causing or contributing to the loss or damage.

2. FreightSafe Warranty Conditions

  1. 2.1Any claim under the FreightSafe Warranty for damage to or loss of Goods ("Claim") must be made online, using the online claim form https://claimform.freightsafe.com/tru
  2. 2.2The Customer must notify Truckit in writing of any Claim within the following time limits:
    1. a)where the recipient of the consignment has indicated in writing on the proof of delivery record or has records that they have informed Provider that damage has occurred in respect of the Goods, within seven (7) days from the date of delivery of the Goods to the delivery address;
    2. b)where the recipient of the consignment has acknowledged that the Goods have been delivered and received in good order and condition, within three (3) business days from the date of delivery of the Goods to the delivery address;
    3. c)In respect of Claims for non-delivery or loss, within fourteen (14) days from expected delivery date.
    4. d)Where the Goods have been delivered, whether under an Authority to Leave or otherwise, and the receiver has not acknowledged delivery, within forty-eight (48) hours or two (2) business days of the date of delivery. The notification of Loss must be supported by photographs of any damage or destruction and must clearly identify the Goods and show any identifying marks or serial numbers.
  3. 2.3Claims must be lodged online within thirty (30) days from the notification date of loss or damage to the consignment.
  4. 2.4The Customer may only make one (1) Claim per consignment.
  5. 2.5The Customer must provide to the claims administrator, FreightSafe, with any Claim, documentary evidence reasonably acceptable to FreightSafe as proof of value of the Goods. This may include, but is not limited to, the supplier’s invoice or evidence of actual cost of manufactured goods, as well as a sales invoice where applicable.
  6. 2.6Where the customer makes a valid Claim, Truckit reserves the right to pay the Claim directly to the Customer by credit note to the Customer's account.
  7. 2.7Claims will only be paid by Truckit in respect of any Claim after the Customer has paid all outstanding amounts owed by the Customer to Truckit on their account, so that the account is within agreed trading terms.

3. FreightSafe Warranty Limitations

The FreightSafe Warranty is subject to the following limitations:

  1. 3.1Claims are limited to loss of or damage to the Goods only. For the avoidance of doubt, the FreightSafe Warranty does not cover any consequential loss or damage suffered by the Customer as a result of loss or damage to the Goods.
  2. 3.2The maximum amount that may be claimed from Truckit under the FreightSafe Warranty is the lesser of:
    1. a)the FreightSafe Warranty Limitation Amount of $500, $1,500 or $2,500 depending on the category of goods, or;
    2. b)the cost price of the Goods, as supported by documentary evidence reasonably acceptable to FreightSafe (for example copy of the supplier’s invoice or evidence of actual cost of manufactured goods;
    3. c)the repair cost for the Goods, where confirmed that the Goods can be reasonably repaired.
  3. 3.3Where there is no invoice value for the original purchase price (cost) of the goods, 65% of the sales/retail value of the item will be used as the basis of valuation.
  4. 3.4GST and freight charges relating to the consignment covered by the FreightSafe Warranty shall not be included in the calculation of any amount in respect of the Goods. Any payment by Truckit arising out of any Claim made by the Customer will be exclusive of GST.
  5. 3.5Where a Claim has been paid in full, FreightSafe may, at its option, take possession of the Goods as salvage. If it does not, the Customer retains the Goods and the Claim payment may be reduced by their salvage value as reasonably assessed by FreightSafe. Truckit is not required to take possession of, store or dispose of any Goods.
  6. 3.6In the event of loss or damage to used or secondhand Goods, Claims that meet the conditions of the FreightSafe Warranty will be paid at the current depreciated market value of the Goods, as reasonably determined by FreightSafe.
  7. 3.7In the event that there is no visible evidence of damage occurring during Carriage, or FreightSafe reasonably determines that the condition of the goods post-delivery was likely the condition that preceded the commencement of Carriage, Claims for damage will not be paid unless the Customer can supply reasonable evidence of the condition of the Goods prior to Carriage.
  8. 3.8Dangerous Goods are only covered with a freight carrier who is experienced in the carriage of Dangerous Goods, and in the case that you have:
    1. a)Disclosed the nature of the Dangerous Goods to be carried; and
    2. b)Provide the carrier with all information required for carriage of the Dangerous Goods in accordance with any applicable Dangerous Goods Law.
  9. 3.9There is no coverage for any third party liability, cost or expense (direct or indirect) arising out of or in connection with the carriage of or loss of Dangerous Goods.

4. FreightSafe Warranty Exclusions

Truckit will not be liable for any Claims made by Customers in any of the following circumstances:

  2. 4.2Where the Customer fails to submit the Claim to Truckit within the relevant time limits set out above;
  3. 4.3Where the Goods consigned are Excluded Goods, where “Excluded Goods” means each of the following items:- currency; negotiable instruments; drugs; weapons; living animals or plants; cigarettes, tobacco and tobacco related products; valuable documents; jewellery; precious metals and stones; bullion; and any item whose value is primarily sentimental rather than market value or an indeterminate value such as, but not limited to, antiques and unique items;

  6. 4.6Where the Goods are determined by FreightSafe to have been defective prior to the Carriage;
  7. 4.7Where damage or loss to the Goods is attributable to electrical, chemical or mechanical failure or other operational defect in the Goods which could not, in the reasonable opinion of FreightSafe, have been caused by the Carriage;
  8. 4.8Where damage or loss to the Goods is attributable to wear and tear, ordinary leakage, ordinary loss in weight or volume or inherent defect or vice of the Goods;
  9. 4.9Where loss of or damage to the Goods is caused by war, terrorism, riot, civil commotion, nuclear or radioactive contamination, seizure or embargo by any government, or a natural disaster declared by a government authority.   10. 4.10Where the delivery address is a post office box, a roadside drop or postal mailbox and Truckit considers this means the consignment could be reasonably accessible by someone other than the intended recipient/addressee of the consignment;
  11. 4.11Where the Carrier records confirm a valid and successful delivery, including goods claimed as lost following an authorised unattended delivery (delivered with an Authority to Leave);
  12. 4.12Where the Goods were not packed in accordance with the Packaging Guidelines or were otherwise inadequately packed, unless the Goods were packed by the Provider;
  13. 4.13Where the Goods were misdescribed in the booking (including their type, value, dimensions or weight), or were booked in a lower category of goods than applies to them.

5. Recovery Rights

On payment of a Claim, the Customer assigns to Truckit all rights it has against the Provider or any third party in respect of the loss or damage, to the extent of the payment, and must give Truckit reasonable assistance in any recovery. After lodging a Claim, the Customer must not settle any claim for the same loss or damage with the Provider without Truckit's prior written consent.

6. Amendments to Terms and Conditions of Contract
